Bookmarks in Aireforge Studio

The Bookmarks feature in Aireforge Studio allows users to save selections of servers for quick access later. This is especially useful when frequently working with specific groups of servers, such as all development servers or all servers running a particular version of SQL Server.

How to Use Bookmarks

Bookmarks are available on screens where multiple servers can be selected, such as the Profile screen. Here's how they work:

  1. Creating a Bookmark

    • Select the servers you want to save.
    • Click the Bookmarks button.
    • From the menu, select Create Bookmark.
    • Enter a name for your bookmark and confirm.

You can now quickly reload these server selections whenever needed.

  2. Managing Bookmarks

    • Click the Bookmarks button and choose Manage Bookmarks to view, rename, or delete existing bookmarks.
    • From this menu, you can also create new bookmarks or delete unused ones.
  3. Using Bookmarks

    • Once a bookmark is created, it will appear in the Bookmarks menu.
    • Selecting a bookmark will automatically highlight the servers it includes, allowing you to quickly work with those selections.

Behind the Scenes

The Bookmark functionality in Aireforge Studio uses a list of servers or comparison items to save your selections. Once a bookmark is created, it is saved in your profile and can be accessed through the Bookmarks menu.

If a bookmark with the same name already exists, youll be prompted to either replace the old one or create a new one with a different name. This ensures flexibility in managing multiple sets of server selections.

Why Use Bookmarks?

While Aireforge Studio supports tagging servers, Bookmarks allow for dynamic selection and saving of servers based on your workflow, making it quicker to switch between server groups. This can save significant time when working across large estates.
